Day 71 – August 19, 2012
Today Lilly turns 10 weeks old. Watching her grow and change has been the most incredible experience of my life. I feel so lucky that I have been able to spend so much time with her, even though it will never be enough. I am trying to be thankful that I am able to take 12 weeks, when I know many women are only able to take 6 or 8.
Lilly has still been a little bit cranky from her shots on Friday, but she is almost back to her old self. I think it has disrupted her daytime sleep patterns more than anything. We have tried to avoid giving her Tylenol as much as possible and have been able to get away with only a few doses when she was feverish and seemed to be struggling with pain. I can't wait for her to feel better.
You can really see how tall she is here
She is so alert!
Time for bed!
There's my happy girl!
Day 72 – August 20, 2012
We bought Lilly a Baltic Amber Teething Necklace at Sweetbottoms in Raleigh/Cary and I didn't think we'd need to use it much because she is not really teething yet. However, after her shots she has been a little cranky, so I decided to try it out today and see if it helped. I think the pictures below speak for themselves :o)
Lilly is wearing her teething necklace and she seems pretty happy about it ;o)
All dressed and ready to start the day!
I just thought this was a funny expression...
She isn't interested in her paci much anymore, but she LOVES her fists!
Day 73 – August 21, 2012
Today was a very special day! Lilly laughed out loud for the first time! I have a video below (a link) that you can hear her (even though the camera angle is not great), but I had to lay the camera down in order to get her to laugh, so the picture is not very good. Make sure your volume is up because it's not a very loud video either :o) I had to get it on video so Darren could see/hear it. I know he was really looking forward to hearing her laugh.
I found a stroller on Facebook (a group I am part of that's basically craigslist for Fuquay and Holly Springs) as well as an extra car seat base that we can give to the babysitter. Lilly and I went to pick it up today. We had to wait for the seller for almost 30 minutes and Lilly was a perfect angel.
That night we took our first of many rides in her new stroller.

Lilly looks a little scared here, but she loves her new Snuffy toy!
Going to get our new stroller!

Day 74 – August 22, 2012
Today we did a "trial run" with Lilly's babysitter, Kristi, for the first time. I woke up at 5:45 to make sure I gave myself enough time to get ready and get Lilly fed and ready. Darren came with me to drop Lilly off and I managed to hold it together. My heart was racing when we left, but I think it helped knowing it was only for a couple of hours, not a full day. Baby steps, right?
While I was at work Kristi texted me and also emailed me pictures, even though I didn't ask her to do this. I was so glad she was thoughtful enough to do this and it just solidified that Lilly is in great hands when we can't be with her.
I went to pick up a sunshade from another seller from Facebook, and I decided to bring Maggie Moo with us as well. She loves taking rides in the car and hasn't had many opportunities lately. I went through the McDonalds drive thru to get a frappe on my way home and then I remembered I had a photo to pick up at Walgreens. I took Lilly in with me, but Maggie needed to stay in the car obviously. When I came back about 3 minutes later, Maggie's nose was an inch deep in my frappe cup and she had licked all of the whipped cream out of the cup! Oops!
On our way to run some errands
Maggie makes a great "shot gun"
I can't get over how tall she is!
Lilly has started holding her own hands together a lot. It's really cute!
I love it when she does the "one eyebrow" stare
Day 75 – August 23, 2012
I found an adorable pair of sandals that someone gave us for Lilly when I was digging in her drawer for some socks. They are really small so I wanted to make sure she got to wear them at least once before her feet are too big! They are adorable!
Lilly had been fighting tummy time the past few nights and mornings and I think it was because she was still getting over the shots. Tonight was the first time she was her "old self" during tummy time (and all day) and I found myself crying while I watched her. I just love her so much and I hated thinking she was in any pain or uncomfortable in any way.
Pretty in pink!
"Excellent" (said in a Mr. Burns from The Simpsons voice)
Day 76 – August 24, 2012
I wasn't sure I was going to blog about this, but because of the important realization afterward, I am going to do it...
Today I fell down the stairs while holding Lilly. We were both ok, but it was the most terrifying moment of my life thus far. I am lucky because our stairs are tiered, so I only fell down 5 stairs (trust me that was enough), and I was holding Lilly close to my body with nothing else in my hands. She cried because she was scared, but she was not hurt. I, on the other hand, was a little hurt. Because my instincts kicked in perfectly and my hands and arms were used to solely protect Lilly, my back and head took the full impact since I could not catch myself at all. Long story short, I am sore, but fine and Lilly was fine.
The reason I even write about this is because it was a big moment for me as a mom. I realized that even my split second instincts were to solely protect Lilly without regard for myself. Even after I fell, my only concern was Lilly and making sure she was ok and safe. There have been a few moments so far (and I am sure there will be many more) when I really felt like a real mom and this was one of them. While I wish it could have been a little less painful (literally), it made me feel like I am actually good at this and it proved how much I love my baby.
I didn't take many pictures today because I was fairly confined to the chair for the afternoon, but here are a few pre-fall :o)
Day 77 – August 25, 2012
We had a busy day today. We decided to go shopping at the mall in Cary
and possibly check out the Lazy Days Festival in Cary as well. We ended up shopping, but not going to the
festival because all day it looked like rain and we didn’t want to get caught
in the rain with Lilly. For all you moms
out there, I was very pleased with the restrooms as Dillards at the Cary Mall
because there was a large seating area with chairs as well as a large
counter. This was perfect for feeding
and changing Lilly. Most restrooms and
stores are not this considerate, so I was very pleased J
Lilly was in a great mood all day, so we just had a
lot of fun with her. We even went out
for lunch at Ruckus where we used to frequent a lot when we lived in Cary. I rocked Lilly to sleep while we waited for
our food and she was a perfect angel while we ate. Could we have a better baby???
Darren discovered a new “game” that made her laugh a
lot! I managed to capture it on video
for real this time. Check it out below!

Lilly loves her WubbaNub Paci
Should I be worried that our daughter loves lifting up her dress? ;o)
"Look at my tongue, Ma!"
Hanging out in my bouncy seat
Bath time!
This may be my new favorite picture
Tummy time!
Lilly is so good at holding her head up for long stretches now!
This is a link to a video of Lilly laughing! Check it out! The video is also below for those of you that can see it (people have been telling me the videos have not been working, so I am trying something new)
