I finally gave in and accepted that my baby girl is ready
for solid food. I was in denial about it
because I wanted to think of her as a tiny baby who could not handle it, but
after a week of Lilly watching us intently while we ate and reaching for our
forks, I knew she was ready to give it a try.
Tonight we tried rice cereal for the first time! It was so exciting J She wasn’t 100% sure how to handle the spoon
when I put it in her mouth, so she sort of nursed off of it. It was adorable. It didn’t take long before she got the hang
of it and was eating like a champ. My
baby is growing up!

Today Lilly had a play date with Sam at Miss Kristi’s
house. Sam is 8 months old. Kristi told me that Lilly was very interested
in Sam and wanted to grab him and play with him, but he was a little shy.
We tried avocado for the first time today. I think Lilly was taken aback by the texture
because I didn’t puree it, I simply mashed it.
She would push the food out of her mouth with her tongue and make a
weird face. I will have to try again
when I puree it.

Lilly has loved looking at herself in the mirror for months
now, but it’s especially cute now because she tries to talk to herself in the mirror. One of my favorite things that she does is
after she sees herself in the mirror, she gets all excited, kicks her legs so
she bounces in my arms and then she buries her head in my shoulder as if she is
hiding from her reflection like a shy little girl. It’s absolutely adorable.
Lilly really enjoys sitting in her Bumbo seat and playing
with her toys. That seat is
amazing! She gets to work on sitting up
and the try lets her have toys right at her fingertips. The down side is that she likes to throw her
toys and then she can’t reach them. I
can see how kids could tip these seats over because Lilly gets very determined
to get her toys. Don’t worry, we always
watch her when she is in the seat and we’re not leaving her on any countertops ;o) Check out the video below!

Lilly recently started leaning back when she is being held and being the "upside down baby." It's as if she is trying to see the world in a new way. I love it!
Kristi is so great to send me pictures almost every day so I can see my baby when I am at work. I miss her SO much, and these pictures really help.

Both of Kristi’s daughters are amazing dancers, so we
decided to dress Lilly in her ballerina outfit one day since the girls like to “dance”
with her when they come home from school.
It still amazes me how many tutus we received for Lilly. They are super cute. I hope Lilly likes to dance when she gets
older J
Kristi bought Lilly a few Christmas bibs. I love the red one because it says “Santa
Loves Me.” I am so excited already for
Lilly’s first Christmas and her first visit with Santa!
Is Lilly my daughter, or what?

We’ve learned that sometimes it is the simplest things that
Lilly really loves and enjoys. For
example, Kristi had a small plastic fish toy that is meant for the bath and
Lilly played with it for a long time while sitting in her high chair. Kristi thought it was so cute she took three
pictures for me J
When Lilly lays on her playmat, sometimes she twists herself
all the way around so she can see what is on the TV. Today I was playing Sesame Street for her and
she turned as soon as she heard Elmo come it.
It was adorable!

Lilly was amusing herself on Saturday morning by singing to herself and banging on the couch while Darren held her. It was so cute I had to snap a few pictures.
Later that day we went to Chad and Michelle's to celebrate Ryan's third birthday. It was great to see Michelle's family. Everyone is so sweet to Lilly and it's great to have so many extra arms to hold her.
Lilly loves her Aunt Michelle
