Lilly Rae - Week 34

Sunday, February 3

34 weeks have gone by so quickly!  Lilly changes a little bit every day and never ceases to amaze me.  She is so vocal and loves to experiment with new sounds.  She has recently started blowing raspberries  and shouting.  She still does her signature Lilly grunting when she is frustrated, too.  We will take that over crying any day!

Monday, February 4

Kristi sent me this picture at work and I forwarded it to several of my coworkers who I knew would appreciate that my 8 month old daughter is reading a book.  :-)  She clearly is her mother's daughter because she already loves book...and not just to chew on.  I love that she know how to hold it and even turns the pages.  When I read to her at night, she is always eager to get to the next page.  She really seems to enjoy when we read books to her; I know I do.

Tuesday, February 5

I love this beautiful smile!  She has changed so much.  It is amazing how having two teeth makes her look so much older.  My baby is growing up so fast!

Wednesday, February 6

I know this picture is upside down, but this is the way Kristi took it and sent it to me, and I think it's really cute.  She is so cute!

Lilly loves to sit on her own out of her Bumbo seat, but she is still a little tippy, so I use the couch as a buffer sometimes.  She doesn't seem to mind!

Thursday, February 7

Kristi took Lilly to BJs today and Lilly rode in the cart like a big girl (don't worry, Kristi assured me that she cleared it off first!).  I realized that we have a cart cover to give her, but we hadn't pulled it out because I thought Lilly was too little to sit in the cart...I was wrong!  I guess I am still trying to keep her as my little baby, but she is becoming my big girl!  She definitely enjoys sitting in the cart.  I am not sure her "boyfriend" Sam liked it quite as much.  Kristi even found a way for Lilly to enjoy her toy while she was riding.  :o)

Friday, February 8

Still no crawling, but Lilly likes to trick us all and make us think she is going to crawl when she gets on her tummy.  Unfortunately, she does not enjoy being on her tummy, so it's hard to encourage her to crawl.  We work on standing and pulling up instead.  Maybe she will just skip crawling; who knows!

Lilly does sit up on her perfectly now.  I think back to when she was my little peanut who needed me to hold her head up, and now...*sigh*  I love every new stage with Lilly, but I definitely miss the previous stages as well.  I marvel at how fast she is growing up, and I try to treasure every moment.

Saturday, February 9
Lilly loves to grab things and play "tug of war."  She has a really strong grip (trust me,  my hair has first hand knowledge), but her favorite past is when whatever she is tugging gets pulled from her hands.  We bought a new collar for Maggie and Lilly thought it was a perfect new toy.

Lilly Rae - Week 33

Sunday, January 27

Lilly wants to have anything that we have (food or drink).  She was extremely interested in my chai latte, so I let her gnaw on the cup.  She didn't get any of the drink, but she really loved the cup!

Easily the best 33 weeks of my entire life.  Every week seems to be getting better and better.  I am so thankful for this beautiful gift we have been given.  I love her so much.  I slip into her room every night before I go to sleep just to look at her.  It's amazing how I can physically feel the immense love I have her for and I go to sleep feeling so happy that I am lucky enough to be the mom of this perfect little angel.  Life is good.

Monday, January 28

We had a three hour delay today, which meant 3 extra hours with our Lilly pad!  She didn't sleep in, but I didn't expect her to.  We had a little pajama party in the living room in the morning instead.  I have gotten used to getting up at 6 every day (yes, even on weekends) and I really don't mind it anymore.  True, I go to bed at 10 every night (yes, even on the weekends), but I am used to it.  Lilly sleeps through the night and is an amazingly calm and relaxed baby.  I could not ask for more :o)

Tuesday, January 29

It was 70 degrees today!  We had a delay yesterday and 70 degree weather today.  I love the south :o)

These pictures are the best I have of Lilly's new teeth!  Check them out!

Wednesday, January 30

Check out Lilly's monkey toes!  I love these little toes so much!  We have started playing "this little piggy" and Lilly loves it.  She is also very ticklish on her feet.  She still never keeps socks on either, so we get to see a lot of her adorable little toes.

Lilly loves jumping in her jumperoo at home and in her johnny jumper at Kristi's house.  Her legs are really strong!  She loves to stand up, but still does not love being on her belly, so I am thinking she might skip crawling and just walk.  We are still a ways off from that (since her sense of balance is not great yet), but I wouldn't be surprised if this was the case.

Thursday, January 31

Lilly is kind of a picky eater.  She likes...no LOVES squash and will eat an entire jar in one sitting.  She also likes sweet potatoes and will eat green beans, peas and carrots.  However, she is not a fan of most fruit!  I think they are too tart for her or something.  I can usually sneak some in with some cereal or between spoonfuls of other foods, but she is not a huge fan.  Most people warned me that a lot of babies don't eat vegetables because they prefer the fruit, but I guess Lilly is kind of the opposite.  The one fruit she seems to like is prunes, which unfortunately can become messy both at meal time and well...later.

Friday, February 1

Lilly is doing such a great job sitting up on her own.  She loves to sit on the couch with the "big girls" at Kristi's house, and loves to sit with me in the recliner at home.  She is getting so big!  I love the pictures that Kristi sends when Lilly is reading.  I show them to my students and tell them that my almost 8 month old daughter is reading, are they?  :o)

Lilly scratched herself on the nose pretty badly yesterday.  It broke my heart.  I keep her nails really short, but she is very strong now and since she's had a runny nose, she has been rubbing her face a lot.  I know it probably doesn't even bother her, but it bothers me.  I think it's always harder on the mom.

Saturday, February 2

I had a meeting at the theater today and I brought Lilly.  Renee was there with her baby girl Talia, so we had the babies play together on the floor.  I joked with Renee that Lilly gave herself a mean scratch so Talia should be careful, but they played well together.  They were very interested in each other's toys.  Lilly was definitely interested in Talia's face as well, but luckily she was gentle :o)  It was so cute to see the babies together!  I love play dates!

I just love my baby girl so much.  Her beautiful smile makes my entire day.  I always knew I wanted to have kids, but until I had Lilly I did not know how much I really meant this.  I feel a completeness in my life that I didn't have before her.  I think there was always a place in my heart for Lilly just waiting for her.

How beautiful is Lilly???
