Lilly Rae - Week 16

Sunday, September 30

My Lilly is 16 weeks old today.  I cannot explain how different life has become because it's almost hard to remember what life was like before Lilly.  I was so happy with my life before we had Lilly and I didn't think life could get any better.  I was so wrong.  My life is better than ever and I feel like I have fulfilled my true calling in life: to be a mom.

Look how big I am getting, Mom!

Monday, October 1

I went in for a teacher workday today and Darren stayed home with Lilly.  I was very jealous that Darren was home with Lilly all day, but he sent me some pictures and a video so I could still see her.  He also came to have lunch with me so I could feed Lilly and see them both.  We showed Lilly off to some of our friends at work and she charmed all of them with her beautiful gummy smile :o)  She is so smiley to every she meets.  I love that she is already a very social baby and she allows other people to hold her and play with her.
Good morning!
Daddy!  I'm trying to sleep, don't take my picture!

 Tuesday, October 2

Today was Lilly's first flight and first big trip!  Shout out to Jared and Carissa for taking us to the airport.  I was definitely nervous about the trip.  I was getting very stressed about packing everything and making sure we had what Lilly would need as well as all of our stuff.  Plus there are so many rules about what you can and can't bring, sizes of things...etc.  I finally had to just remind myself that as long as I had the basics, we could buy anything I forgot!  ;o)

I was very pleasantly surprised how EASY the process was at the airport.  Check in was a breeze and as soon as we walked up to security they opened up a line for us and the TSA agent was very friendly and helpful.  I had to take Lilly out of her seat/stroller to send it through the xray machine, and then of course, the security officers did extra security checks on Darren, so I was standing there holding Lilly and couldn't get any of our bags or the stroller well with one hand.  A very kind TSA agent saw me and told me to go ahead and sit down and he brought over the stroller and most of our bags for us!  There is definitely something to be said about Southern Hospitality!

Lilly was an ANGEL on the flight!  I fed her during take off and then she slept while Darren and I relaxed and watched TV (JetBlue is awesome!).  We landed at JFK and got some food during our layover.  Our connection was delayed about an hour and 15 minutes, so we took turns playing with Lilly and just tried to relax.  The second flight was smooth.  The only frustrating thing was that we sat in line waiting to take off for longer than I would have liked.  We landed in Syracuse around 7:30, grabbed our bags, found the car my mom had left for us and made the 3 hour drive to Tupper Lake.  Lilly slept the entire way there and I managed to grab a cat nap while my amazing husband drove the whole way.  We may have arrive a little later than we wanted to, but at least we weren't driving for 13 hours :o)

Our happy girl seemed really excited to be on the plane

She was definitely interested in this new place

Almost time for take off!

This was Lilly the entire flight :o)

We landed in Syracuse!  Welcome to New York!

Wednesday, October 3

We had a great time our first day in Tupper Lake.  The weather wasn't nice enough to go hiking, but we enjoyed spending quality time with Grandma and Grandpa.  Lilly was obviously very comfortable snuggling with Grandma :o)

Beautiful fall leaves!

                                                        Thursday, October 4

We had a very full day today.  We headed to Saranac Lake to visit Darren's Great Aunt Shirley and introduce her to Lilly.  Then we went to Lake Placid to walk around the shops and explore the town.  When we got back to Darren's parent's house, Aunt Beck and Uncle Don came over for a visit.  It was nice that Lilly was able to meet so many family members.  She charmed them all with her adorable smile (no surprise there).

Later that afternoon the sun was shining so we went for a walk and were able to grab some great pictures of the beautiful scenery in Tupper Lake.

Of course I found a cupcake shop in Lake Placid

It was a little overcast, but still beautiful

                                                           Friday, October 5

Darren, Lilly and I went to get breakfast at The Lumberjack.  We then made the three hour drive to Hamilton.  Lilly met her Uncles Dan and Tom (my brothers), Aunt Susan (my sister) and her cousins Brianna, Nick and Anthony (Susan's kids) and she saw Grandma and Grandpa (my mom and step dad) again.  Lilly was a little "off" from all of the traveling and Susan and the kids didn't get to my mom's house until later in the evening when Lilly was ready for bed, so we didn't get any pictures, but we did get some later.

I tease my mom for never throwing things away, but I am really glad she had a bouncy seat that she saved!

I just love this face!

Saturday, October 6

Good morning, Lilly!

It was a little chilly, so Lilly was sporting her Pooh Bear sweatshirt, complete with ears :o)
